About The Hooker

Tandy Imhoff, aka SmartCat Studios and Tandy Imhoff Designs, has been crocheting since 2003 and knitting since 2005. Early in her beginning fiber crafting days, many of her friends recognized her ability to put a new twist on patterns and encouraged her to write them up and sell them. Tandy specializes in easy to understand patterns that are appropriate for many skill levels of fiber artists. All of her patterns are written with enough information that even an Adventurous Beginner could tackle them, with a little support from their friends or LYS, but are not so overly simplistic that experienced fiber artists are frustrated at the extensive explanations. Her patterns are available from Ravelry.

After several years writing patterns, Tandy discovered that she had a knack for being able to view or learn techniques and then explain them in different ways so that practically any fiber artists could understand. This lead her to begin teaching at LYSs and eventually fiber festivals. She loves sharing what she learns with others, which is what has lead to this blog site.

At The Hooker’s Guide to Needles, you will find techniques and stitches for both knitters and crocheters, with some cross-over techniques for both knitters and crocheters. Tandy gets rave reviews on YouTube for her instructional videos for their ease of understanding and her forthright attitude. She will share tips about different tools to find and keep in your notion bags, as well as occasional reviews of products. Tandy loves sharing all the tips that she picks up around her LYS, guild and friends. She is always listening and learning and then eager to share.

If there is a specific technique or stitch you would like Tandy to explore and explain here on The Hooker’s Guide to Needles, please send contact her using the form to the right.
